Al Hudairiyat Island sits to the south west of Abu Dhabi Island, across the water from Al Bateen and connected to it by a bridge. For years it was a place people came to for the day: Marsana beach on the western side, the 321 Sports fitness and cycling hub, glamping at Bab Al Nojoum, the Circuit X skate and adventure park. Now the developer Modon is building beachfront villa districts on the island, and the first residents are moving into homes with the beach at the end of the road and the city skyline across the channel.
A new villa on a new island has its own cleaning profile. The homes are recently handed over, so construction dust is the first job, settling on cabinet tops, inside wardrobes and along the tracks of the big sliding doors. The surroundings are sandy and open, and the wind brings fine sand onto terraces, into door tracks and across the ground floor.
