It is organised as a series of villages, each with its own community centre, mosque and school, so daily life happens within the community and the villas themselves are where families spend most of their time. The houses share a similar design language, with courtyards, large kitchens and generous bedrooms.
A courtyard villa is a pleasure to live in and a specific job to clean. The courtyard brings light into the house, but it also lets in sand every time the wind picks up, and the surroundings are still sandy in many parts of the community. Large kitchens built for family cooking need real work on the hood, the hob and the cabinet fronts, and the number of bathrooms in a single villa means the bathroom checklist takes longer than in any flat in the city.
